Search Engine Registration Script

Last Updated April 26 1999

About this script

No fuss url registration script. Use this script to submit multiple URL's to popular search engines.
Most of the search engines requires only the URL and e-mail address to register the page, and the script will submit blank fields if they are not filled out. When you start the submission , a small window will pop up to control the submission. You can then continue to browse with this window.
Before you submit your URL, you should take a look at your pages meta tags, or use EasyMeta when you have filled out the form below.

What's new in version 2?
  • I have now moved the scriptinformation from URL to cookies. This will hopefully decrease the server load, and submission time. Because the browser now can request the same page over and over regardless of which search engine it's sending the url(s) to, it can make better use of the browsers cache.
  • Earlier it was VERY time consuming to remove a search engine from the front if I not replaced it with another. This is because the script require a small file with the form for each search engine, earlier these files was numbered. Today I can name the files whatever I like and this way it's more 'human' to administer the engine list.
  • The new admin-script now make it easier to add new search engines. I can now save a local copy of the search engines register page (with the submission form in), without modifications browse to the saved file from the admin-script, and the admin-script will automatically collect all forms data and build a complete html-file on the fly.
  • Moved all scripts out of the HTML-page into own script-files. This makes some files smaller because many shared functions are cached.
  • Layout definitions are now handled by an external stylesheet file.
  • At least Netscape have a size limit on the cookie file. Read the Netscape doc. The size limit for one cookie are 4 Kb, which means that you can submit no more than 40 URL's at a time.
  • The script now remember your favourite search engines from time to time. If a search engine disappear for good., the user can mark the engine as unusable.
  • Because of all the modifications mentioned above, there is no support for Browser ver. 3 any more.
